Since its inception, the Phoenix Ensemble has hosted a variety of artists in different configurations. The Oblivion Project, the Midwest’s foremost tango band, has had a long association with the Phoenix Ensemble.

The Oblivion Project at the Detroit Institute of Arts

Composed of some of the finest musicians in the area, The Oblivion Project explores the music of the legendary Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. Like no other music, the passion-filled and dramatic tangos of Astor Piazzolla evoke the mystery and romance of Buenos Aires after dark.

PhoenixPhest! Silent Auction

About The Phoenix Ensemble

Founded in 1998, The Phoenix Ensemble is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the highest quality musical experiences for people of all ages and levels, as performers and audience members. As a modular organization, we collaborate with artists in a variety of media to help them realize their visions. We have a history of putting on interesting and engaging events in and around Ann Arbor. Our flagship events are PhoenixPhest!, a chamber music festival held each May, and PhoenixPhest! Grande, a combined chamber music festival and Suzuki institute in August.
