PhoenixPhest! Grande is an intensive festival and workshop that will take place from August 16-20 as a chamber music festival side by side with a full-scale Suzuki string institute.
The festival will be located on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
We are planning five days from 9 to 4, Monday through Friday, in a day-camp format, along with several faculty and student recitals in the afternoons and evenings. The curriculum is open to all ages and levels of students but Phest Grande is especially intended for students who are looking for a more intensive and longer day of intensive music making and scheduled individual practice time.
The curriculum will include private lessons, chamber music coachings and general music classes as well as scheduled individual practice times daily.
Electives will let Phest Grande chamber music students take classes from the Suzuki institute if they wish, including Alexander technique, general music and orchestra.
Supplementary classes and other choices can be seen and selected on the Choices page.
Students can bring pre-formed chamber music groups or can be placed in Phoenix-phormed groups.
