PhoenixPhest is held on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. Ypsilanti is adjacent to Ann Arbor and about 45 miles from Detroit. Activities take place in the Alexander Music Building and Pray-Harrold classroom building (a 5-minute walk).

The faculty concert will be held Saturday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alexander Recital Hall.

Getting here

By Air: The nearest airport is Detroit Metro (DTW). The airport is approximately 20 miles away from Ypsilanti. You can rent a car at the airport or arrange for ground transportation via taxi or limo. Click here for more info.

By Car: The Alexander Building is located at the corner of Lowell and E. Circle Drive. The building does not have a street address. Google map here. Free parking is available in the guest lot right in front of the building. To get there, enter through the Sill parking lot which is connected.

Note: E. Circle Drive is currently closed to construction. Do not follow the detour signs; just continue down Lowell and the Sill entrance is on your right. Download a map


Hotel: We have a block of rooms reserved at the Ann Arbor Regent Hotel & Suites, which is a 10-minute drive from EMU campus. Our discount rate is $125/night, which includes breakfast, wi-fi, and a shuttle to EMU (if needed). To get the discount rate, just call the hotel at 734-973-6100 and let them know you are coming to PhoenixPhest. The deadline for reservations at the discount rate is April 26, 2017.


Dinner is provided for all students (and faculty) on Friday night. One-hour lunch breaks are scheduled into the day on Saturday and Sunday. There is a Jimmy John’s within walking distance (map), or you may bring a bag lunch. The EMU cafeterias and Eagle Cafe will be closed because of the holiday.
